Alma UK is proud to announce its partnership with The Katie Piper Foundation, supporting burn survivors through access to advanced scar treatment technologies and regenerative therapies designed to improve both physical recovery and confidence.

While the partnership officially began in August 2024, the work has remained intentionally private to ensure each survivor’s treatment journey could progress with the care, time and sensitivity it deserves. After two years we finally feel we have reached the appropriate time to share the impact of this collaboration through the story of Claire, whose treatment journey has now reached a milestone she feels proud to share.

Claire sustained life-changing burns to her face and arm following a chip pan fire. Over the past year, she has undergone a personalised treatment programme led by Dr Tino Solomon at Dr Medispa, combining Alma’s advanced laser technologies with regenerative medicine to improve the appearance and function of her scars.

Her treatment began with Alma Harmony Dye-VL to address the redness and vascularity of her scars before progressing to Alma Hybrid, with ASCEplus Exosomes applied immediately following treatment to support the skin’s natural healing response and optimise recovery. Each stage of the programme was carefully tailored to Claire’s individual needs, focusing not only on improving the appearance of her scars but also reducing pain, increasing mobility and enhancing her overall quality of life.

After more than a year of treatment, Claire has experienced life-changing improvements.

“The main positive is that the pain in my face has disappeared. My scars are much less red, the skin is less raised, and I can now lift my arm. The improvement I’ve seen so far has been amazing.”

For Claire, the journey has been about much more than aesthetics. Improvements in the flexibility of her scar tissue have reduced discomfort, restored movement and given her the confidence to share her story in the hope that it lets others living with traumatic scars know there are further solutions outside of the NHS you can access to help support further recovery.

The partnership brings together the expertise of The Katie Piper Foundation, Dr Medispa and Alma UK to provide survivors with access to treatments that may otherwise be unavailable, supporting individuals living with the long-term effects of burns and other life-changing injuries.

Alma Hybrid combines CO₂ and 1570nm laser wavelengths to stimulate skin remodelling and improve scar texture, while Harmony Dye-VL targets persistent redness and vascular components commonly associated with burn scars. When combined with ASCEplus Exosomes, which support the skin’s natural healing and regeneration following laser treatment, clinicians are able to deliver a comprehensive approach to complex scar management.

Although Claire is the first survivor to publicly share her journey, she is not the only individual benefiting from the partnership. A number of additional survivors are currently undergoing treatment, with further stories expected to be shared over time as each individual reaches a stage where they feel comfortable doing so.

Kate Naish. CEO oof the Katie Piper Foundation said:

“The Katie Piper Foundation is delighted to be working in partnership with Alma to provide laser treatment to burns survivors who otherwise would not be able to access it.  We are so grateful to Alma and Dr MediSpa for their ongoing support and care”

Adam Bashier, General Manager of Alma UK said:

“At Alma, we’ve always believed our technology has the power to change lives. While our devices are widely recognised for delivering outstanding aesthetic results, we also wanted to ensure they could be used to support people living with traumatic scars. Our partnership with The Katie Piper Foundation allows us to do exactly that. Seeing Claire’s progress throughout her treatment has been incredibly rewarding and reinforces why this partnership is so important to us. We hope this is just the beginning of helping more survivors regain not only healthier skin, but greater confidence and quality of life.”

Dr. MediSpa, added:

“We’re incredibly proud to work alongside The Katie Piper Foundation, supporting people living with the lasting effects of burns and other life-changing injuries. Seeing Claire’s smile, her renewed confidence and how happy she is with her results reminds us why this work means so much. Every scar tells a story. While we can’t change the past, we can help people move forward with greater confidence and hope.”

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to improving access to specialist scar treatments for those whose lives have been changed by burns and traumatic injury. As more survivors continue their treatment journeys, Alma UK, Dr Medispa and The Katie Piper Foundation remain committed to delivering care that goes beyond clinical outcomes—helping people regain confidence, restore self-esteem and move forward with hope.
